On July 15, 2017, Disney announced that the attraction would close and be replaced with a dark ride themed after Mickey Mouse. It served as the park's symbol until it was demolished in 2015. The facade was almost completely blocked from view in 2001 when a giant replica of the Sorcerer's Hat was built directly in front of it.
